Things get also a lot mystical here with new dimensions, collective minds and travels into memories. There is a lot of plot twists and people outsmarting then being outsmarted to later outsmart the same, it becomes ridiculous and hard to follow. It's not about king and army anymore it's all about resources, world trades, lobbying and alliances. This time though, it's a little more complicated to follow a modern day political intrigue instead of the feudal politic of last season. The season focuses on war, racism to become the political drama that season three started to introduce while maintaining a multi-layered point of view on those difficult topics. It's all about pay off here, for every long introduction, or never-lasting conversations in a dark room, there is a very exciting conclusion, it's worth the wait. It's definitely not as exciting as season 3, sometimes the slow pace and having to care about new characters make the viewers impatient to come back to Eren and the Scouts, especially since some new characters may be very grating at first. This is a slow burner and takes a lot of risk by introducing a whole new world with its own characters and slowly mix them with the main cast and storylines. After a frantic season, season 4 slows down.
